THE AUSPICIOUS AUTUMNAL EQUINOX

Today is a very powerful day for bringing about positive change. The full Moon on the Autumnal Equinox gives great power for manifestation. For those living in the Continental United States, the Moon moves into the constellation of Uttara Bhadra on the western horizon just as the Sun reaches the eastern horizon. According to Vedic Scholar Bepin Behari, “Uttara Bhadra is the realm of passive darkness, where creativity and wisdom are born. There is growth and expansion of consciousness through the restriction of materiality. It brings detachment from the physical realm and attachment to the realization of the Divine plan. This asterism leads to the unveiling of Divine wisdom which cannot be distorted by any material attachment or ignorance.” Uttara Bhadra grants growth and prosperity in a way that benefits the entire world.

As the Sun rises on the eastern horizon it is in the constellation of Uttara Phalguni, which it rules--therefore it further empowers the manifestation. The motivation of this asterism is liberation from karma and it holds the hidden powers of nature. The metaphysical energy provides the impulse for expansion and great spiritual development. It also emphasizes healing, kindness, and compassion for humanity.

According to the Shri Vishnu Purana, Canto 2, Chapter 8, verses 78-79: When the Sun is opposite the Moon (full Moon) on the Autumnal Equinox “there occurs the most sacred of moments...This time is appropriate for making offerings, etc., in respect of the Devas (Gods), the Brahmins (Evolved Souls), and the Pitras (Ancestors). It is as if at this time the Devas would receive offerings with their mouths open.”

The Vedic day lasts from Sunrise until Sunrise. May you find an opportunity to be a channel for grace, healing, kindness, and compassion, planting the seeds of goodness that will blossom in the lives of others.
